GP Coaching

Coaching Philosophy

GP is not just about writing essays, memorising content or regurgitating what we have read from a passage. It is about learning to think clearly, argue responsibly and communicate with precision. In essence, it is to understand, write so that others understand and anticipate why others might not understand.

The coaching philosophy at the GP Coaching Studio aims to cultivate these. As such, our approach focuses on:

  • Helping students recognise what GP is asking for both as a subject and a philosophy

  • Knowing how to prepare for GP, and demonstrating the preparation efforts in the examinations

  • Developing the relevant knowledge, skills and attitude needed to face the subject confidently

We also recognise the importance of the students' own efforts. Just like how an athlete ultimately participates in the competition themselves, students are also like athletes when they face the GP examinations. Our role is then to guide, structure and support their efforts so that they can progress in GP with confidence.

Coaching Components

Upon taking up GP Coaching, students will receive the following that goes towards preparing them for GP:

  • once/twice a week targeted GP Coaching

  • strengthening of content and language foundations

  • structured skill-building across essays, comprehension, short answer questions (SAQs), summary and application question (AQ)

  • prompt, actionable feedback

  • materials aligned with the H1 8881 syllabus

  • support till the 'A' Levels

Coaching Format

Lessons are currently conducted in three formats:

  • in-person

  • hybrid (in-person + virtual, based on a mutually agreed arrangement)

In the event of lesson disruptions, make-up lessons will be arranged either on a separate date and/or via virtual lessons.

All assignments - regardless of the lesson format - are done in pen-and-paper formats to mirror the actual examination conditions.
